Rome [ENA] Donations of medical supplies arrived yesterday in Rome from entities of the People's Republic of China. The Silk Road Chang’an Promotion Association and Shaanxi Silk Road Jewelry Co. Ltd together with Shaanxi Xiaoci Social Work Development Center donated epidemic prevention materials worth RMB 300,000 to express the concern and best wishes of Chinese people for the people of the Vatican and Italy to win the battle

together against COVID-19. In the past, the Silk Road Chang’an Promotion Association and its Shaanxi Silk Road Jewelry Co. Ltd have organized and made preparations for large charity events, including “Chang’an—Rome, the Journey to Revive Silk Road”, “New Eurasian Land Bridge”, “War and Peace—Revisiting the World War II Road to Commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Anti-fascist War”, etc. During the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Silk Road Chang’an Promotion Association mobilized and donated epidemic prevention materials to Hubei Province, which was the core affected area in China, and other areas for many times. With the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic in the other places in the world, it realizes

that the COVID-19 epidemic is not only Chinese matter, but also the crisis that all human has to face. Focusing on domestic epidemic, it pays closely attention to Italy and the Vatican where the epidemic is severe for the time being. Hearing that the medical and protective supplies in Italy and the Vatican are in short supply, the Silk Road Chang’an Promotion Association rushed about for many days and contacted some socially responsible enterprises in Shaanxi Province, in order to make preparations for the materials complying with European quality standard, including medical masks, medical gloves, under the circumstances that the domestic epidemic prevention supplies are in short supply, so as to make its humble effort during the battle

of Italy and Vatican against the COVID-19 epidemic. The ancient Silk Road has connected China with ancient Rome since over 2,000 years ago. Today, the Chinese Bodies quote from the Italian opera Turandot to express their concern for the people of the Vatican and Italy -- “Even if everything in the world has changed, I will be waiting here for you, in order to let you know whenever you are, I am loving you... ”. The Associations sincerely wished the Vatican and Italy to meet the challenge and win the battle against the COVID-19 epidemic early with the experience of their thousands-year civilization and wisdom. Although the Silk Road Chang’an Promotion Association is a non-Christian community, it is willing to help the Vatican City state

and Italians to fight against the epidemic in the spirit of friendship and peace. This concept is accordant with the perspective, idea and practice of Pope Francis’ “Human Fraternity” and Chinese President Xi Jinping’s “A Human Community with a Shared Future”. Shaanxi Xiaoci Social Work Development Center (the former The Catholic Social Service Center, Xi’an Diocese) was established in June 2002. And it registered in the Department of Civil Affairs of Shaanxi Province in June 25, 2015, with Fr. Stephen Ruixue Chen being the director. The Service scope involves providing migrant children, left-behind children and their families with professional social services; providing the impoverished and disabled children with assistance;

managing home for the elderly and conducting training and research; and undertaking projects concerning social services. It is just called “Caritas Xi’an” by many overseas NGOs. Shaanxi Xiaoci is eager to fight together with the people of the world against the pandemic of “Covid -19”. ”The Silk Road connects us and our friendship endures. Though mountains and rivers set us apart, we share one world under heaven. We are in the same global village”. This is the slogan of the operation.
